CoolSculpting After Weight Loss

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive treatment that aims to refine areas that contain unwanted fat. The innovative technology has FDA clearance to treat fat bulges in the submental, flanks, abdomen, and upper arms. During the procedure, rounded paddles suction both skin and fat while the apparatus sends cooling agents to target fat cells until they are crystallized. The frozen fat cells will ultimately break down and die with help from the body’s natural liver and lymph processes.

However, it is important to note that CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment. When you lose weight, your fat cells only become smaller in size but not in quantity. CoolSculpting should be viewed as a spot treatment that can reduce the number of fat cells by about 20 to 25 percent in the treated area. Additionally, CoolSculpting is not meant to tip the scales in any noticeable way, but it can help you look thinner and more sculpted.

Recently, the FDA approved the use of the CoolSculpting device to improve the appearance of loose skin under the chin area. Studies have shown visible improvement in tissue laxity in this area and patients have reported that their chin looked more toned following the treatment. Thus, the technology has proven to be both safe and effective at reducing fat while also tightening the skin in the submental areas.

What Makes CoolSculpting Different from Other Fat Reduction Technologies?

CoolSculpting is the only FDA-cleared a non-surgical fat reduction treatment that freezes and kills fat cells. The procedure is tolerable enough that patients can engage in relaxing activities such as reading or browsing their personal devices while the CoolSculpting device induces the death of fat cells. Additionally, patients can resume normal activities following the procedure.  Thus, CoolSculpting is one of the most well tolerated and effective treatments for fat reduction on the market.

How Long Does a Treatment Last?

A treatment session can last between 35 to 60 minutes depending on which area is being treated. Patients can target more than one area in the same office visit.

When Will I See Results?

Fat cells can take weeks to be fully excreted from the body. Patients typically start noticing results as quickly as three weeks following their treatment. Results will continue to blossom for up to four to six months after the treatment.
