Tattooing for the eyebrows? You’ve probably heard about this trend from American actress Bella Thorne who posted Snapchat videos of the procedure. Yet if you missed the news, here is a helpful guide about microblading:
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing procedure to fill out the appearance of thin eyebrows. It doesn’t involve the use of eyebrow pencils, gels, pigments or powders applied to the skin area or hairs. Instead, a microblading professional will inject ink into the eyebrow region using a manual device. The professional draws lines across the skin in gently strokes to mimic your natural hairs. The ink is not applied deeply into the skin as it fills out the thin areas to make it look like you have fuller eyebrows.
How Long Does the Procedure Last?
Unlike a permanent tattoo, the pigment injected into the skin will begin to fade away. Most people will obtain touch-ups after six months to prolong the appearance. The typically length of time that the microblading will last is anywhere from a year up to 3 years depending on the person’s skin type and lifestyle. The initial microblading procedure can take about 2 hours to complete as the pain is less than what you would experience when getting a regular tattoo.
Aftercare is also necessary to obtain the full effects of microblading. It will take about a week to two weeks for the brow area to heal. Avoid moisture and water as you want to keep the skin dry until the healing process is completed. You may experience some irritation and redness as applying Vaseline can help.
Why You May Consider Microblading
The costs for microblading treatment can vary depending on where you obtain this procedure. Yet you may decide that the costs are worth it if you have to deal with thin eyebrows. You can finally obtain the beautiful eyebrows you have always wanted yet could never have using the regular makeup methods. You also don’t have to worry about the gels, pencil lines or other makeup smearing or fading away when doing certain vigorous activities like swimming.
Other obvious advantages are that you won’t have to apply makeup every morning or pluck your eyebrow hairs to get the desired shape. You will have natural-looking eyebrows that will last with very little daily effort.
